The Faculty of English Language and Literature seeks applications from scholars working in the field of literature in English in the long 19th century, defined for this purpose as c.1780 - 1910. The successful candidate will promote the literary study of this period in Oxford at all levels, and stimulate interest in the subject within the wider academic community and beyond. They will be a scholar of the highest international standing with an outstanding record of research and publication, and will demonstrate an ability to teach, guide, and inspire students and colleagues at all levels and to represent the Faculty within both the University and the academic community at large.
