Gotcha: How Photographers and Technology Changed the World
Photography is a powerful medium which, unlike other formats, has burgeoned over time rather than dwindled. The history of photography is often about who controls the image, and to that end, the role of the photographer is critical. We are moving towards a world in which everything is witnessed, everything is recorded, and control is moving from central authorities and a few photographs in the hands of many to one in which everyone can own their own story and their own truth. In this lecture, Getty Images CEO Dawn Airey will discuss the choices that photographers make and will explore the effects of universal documentation – leading us to ask more questions about whose truth it is we are seeking and telling.
