Professor Ros Ballaster featured on BBC Radio 4

Ros Ballaster

Professor Ros Ballaster, the current Chair of the English Faculty Board, was featured this week on BBC Radio 4's In Our Time.

The episode focused on Aphra Behn, who made her name and her living as a playwright, poet and writer of fiction under the Restoration. She was regarded as an important writer in her lifetime and inspired others to write, but fell out of favour for two centuries after her death when her work was seen as too bawdy, the product of a disreputable age.

The episode was hosted by Melvyn Bragg, and featured Janet Todd (Cambridge) and Claire Bowditch (Loughborough) alongside Professor Ballaster. You can download the episode, or learn more about In Our Time, on the BBC Website.
