Professor Erica McAlpine

I have particular interests in the Romantics and in Modern and Contemporary American Poetry. My book, The Poet's Mistake (Princeton, 2020), catalogues mistakes in poems and explores how readers have responded to such errors in complicated ways. 

I am also a practising poet. My latest book of poems, Small Pointed Things, is now available from Carcanet Press. My first collection of poems, The Country Gambler, appeared with Shearsman Books in April 2016.
