The English Faculty hosts English Teachers’ Conferences every year around the Spring half-term, usually in mid-February.
The event is primarily intended for English teachers responsible for Years 7 – 13. Teachers from sixth form and FE colleges are also very welcome, as are careers advisors and tutors responsible for progression to Higher Education.
The conference is always free to attend, whether virtual or in-person, and consists of academic mini-lectures and Q&As, presentations on Oxford-created resources to use in the classroom, and advice on supporting your students to make competitive applications to study English at Oxford and other higher education institutions. The conference concludes with an interactive panel discussion, focussing on particular issues we face in teaching English, where we will invite questions and comments from delegates.
To express your interest in attending this event, or to ask any questions, please email the Faculty’s Outreach Officer on outreach@ell.ox.ac.uk.
Teachers from all school types are welcome to register interest in this event. We will give priority to teachers and educational professionals who work within state schools, sixth forms and FE colleges, but will admit independent schools if there is space available after registration closes.
